While visiting public places lately, I often caught the eye of the Handwashing Scheme. And I was very surprised when I realized that I never washed my hands properly. In addition to the "scheme", I was interested in pictures: on some instructions, the pictures did not match the text. I remembered that I had once seen a scientific work by John Bulwer, an English physician who lived in the 17th century, called Chirology, which is a collection of drawings of hands and descriptions of gestures.
For Bulwer, the gesture was a universal symbol of Reason, a "temporary hieroglyph" - the hand "speaks all languages, and as a universal symbol of Reason, as a rule, all nations understand and know, despite the formal differences in their languages." ".
I drew drawings of my son's hands and kept the description of the gesture, adding personal hygiene items and the logic of the instruction. When you know what the universal hand gesture means, washing them becomes much more pleasant.
